OK, "Lost" was great again last night...aside from the fact that I got to see Jack with his shirt off. :) Unfortunately one of the crash survivors died in the ocean, which made Jack, in addition to his lack of sleep, a little crazy. But he saved Boone, who also felt guilty for not being able to save the girl...and we got some insight into Jack's life before the crash...controlling parents, a dad with a drinking problem, and a mom that seems to blame Jack for something..."not after what you did..." Ominous...so Jack goes crashing through the jungle chasing hallucination...or is it? He catches up and discovers that it is his father...could he have been on the plane? Jack almost tumbles off a cliff, but is saved by Locke, who is out on a hunt for fresh water...the two men sit down, with Locke giving Jack some advice on how to deal with what he is seeing, and telling Jack that even though Jack says what he's seeing is impossible, Locke himselfe is not so sure...Locke also mentions that he believes the island is magic, and makes reference to seeing the "monster," but he seems to not be afraid of what he saw, but in awe of it...so Locke goes on with his search, insisting that Jack keep following his vision, because a leader "needs to know where he is going." He finally ends up where the tail section of the plane ended up...and there's a coffin...in flashbacks we see that Jack's father died, and the coffin is his father's...Jack wrestles with the coffin...opens it...and it's EMPTY!! So he beats it to pieces with a pipe, returns to the beach, and finally begins to be the leader that they need...But who was he following through the jungle?!?
On another note, has anyone seen the comparisons by I think one of the writers and by others on the net between "Lost" and "The Stand" by Stephen King? Comments?
