Not that I'm egocentric or anything, but I added a quiz all about me to the links at left...give it a shot!
Had to clean house this weekend, and I was reminded of something that my mom used to do to make the chores more entertaining. She would write each job that had to be done on a slip of paper and then put them all in a jar. One by one we would pick out what had to be done, and it was always a relief if you got a bigger selection of easier jobs...it really made the cleaning less of a chore. I think it's time to pass that tradition on to my son! :)
OK, maybe the coffee is kicking in after all...I have the mad urge to straighten my office, having already straightened one of the work areas outside my cube...java, java, java...
Ok, so the venti house coffee with the add shot isn't doing it's job this morning...there's half a cup of good strong coffee sitting on my desk from yesterday...I'm eying it speculatively...(the water's off in the building this morning, and it seems a waste of bottled water to make a pot of coffee...don't get me started on the large contingent whining about this situation...god forbid there were an actual crisis where they had to manage without their amenities...and hope that I'm not armed if this happens.) But I digress...I am avoiding the stack of work on my desk...it's Friday after all. But in a few minutes, I'll feel the guilt fairy (fairy guiltmother) perched on my shoulder and I will get to it...just a few minutes of goofing off then...
Thanks to those that are participating in the Trivia Challenge...it's been fun even if the last few days I've felt dumb...I missed an easy one about Fred Flinstone's boss...I've also added a new blog to my links...check out Woodland Forays when you get a chance, good posts and some great quizzes...

Thanks to msbhivin for the fun quiz
Went to watch MNF at a friend's house, he and his SO just bought a great new house and hosted us for the game...there was a mix of Eagles and Vikings fans, so it was really fun...sorry for the Vikings fans, though...as a 49ers fan I was safe, although I hated to see TO make that catch (even if he was out of bounds.. :) ). But the one thing I did realize while I was there and after I got home was that it is soo nice to live where you can look up and see all the stars...I sat on my back deck after I got home (and took out the garbage...I'll leave out the part where I got covered in ANTS...) and just looked at the stars. It was nice. The one thing that I like and that puts my ego in full stop is that the whole northern hemisphere sees the same thing pretty much...it feels like a personal show while you're sitting there, but that's what everyone that sees it thinks as well...actually, maybe that's one of the things that makes it great after all...living in the city is fun, but I'd miss the stars...
On another note, the news tells me that there has been another hostage beheaded in Iraq. Just speaking from a personal gung-ho perspective...can we please get a group of Special Forces\CIA\Black Ops, whatever is the prevalent term to go over there and take these radicals out? You know these special teams exist...and this would be a good time to put them on a flight and get some work done. I don't care who you want to vote for, losing our citizens in this way is unacceptable. I don't care if they're there for Halliburton, Bush, Kerry, or the Moonies, this has gone on long enough...
OK, that was my soapbox...but I mean it...if you've gotten this far, please take the time to do the trivia challenge to the left...it's fun, and no one gets hurt.
At the gentle request of on of my readers, I thought I would just take a minute to say "Hi!" I started a very funny post over the weekend about not being able to sleep, but then lost it when my Internet connection went kaput. I tried to recreate, but it just wasn't the same! I've been pretty low key the last few days, after last weekend, with my friends wedding, the reception, and the Dave Matthews concert, I thought a quiet weekend would be just the ticket...and it was. Very uneventful, actually. It rained here on Saturday morning, which for Northern CA in September is pretty rare. It was really just enough to give everything a good soak, but I did hear a lot of excessive braking on the road in front of my house, because there are a lot of Californian drivers that just can't seem to remember that the roads are really slick after a first rain...I may have mentioned in a previous post that geese have a limited memory (I've forgotten where I read this, but believe it). This makes them good watchdogs (watchgeese? watchgooses? many much moosen?) because they don't remember people (this is what I read) Well anyway, that's what these drivers are like...can't remember the effect of rain from one year to the next...the same thing happens when it gets foggy (FOGGG). Now I'm all for driving safely in the fog, but some people act like the road has undergone some radical change in the time since they last were on it (I noticed this while ending up behind the same car both to and from work several times a week...) It's still the same damn road! Which reminds me of an experiece that I had with msbhivin and a "pavement ends" sign, but that's a story for another time...
Msbhivin and I went to see Dave Matthews over the weekend, along with 70000 other people from all over the country (like the pointy nosed guy on the bus from Ohio...the guy was from Ohio, not the bus)...and now that I'm back in my cube working away, I am reminded of all the crazy things we laughed about and saw and did (cookies!).
The guy with the little vacuum to clean off his blanket after the concert...but as msbhivin pointed out, where exactly would he plug that in?
The young guy on the bus that kept staring at my feet...
The wierd "blair witch"-like shrine in the park...
The guy behind us at the concert that could whistle really well...
The guy that went back for the cookies...
There's a fun link in the upper left...try the trivia challenge!
Went to see Dave Matthews and his band in Golden Gate Park yesterday. If you're a fan of the band, you know what a FANTASTIC show they put on, and this one was no different. It rocked! He also had Carlos Santana play on a few songs which was a real treat for the audience!
